Aim of the project: Systemic changes in criminal justice using the voice of people with lived experience

Summary: Following on from the Our Voice Matters project, the project will anchor a team of people with lived experience within the RUBIKON Centrum structure, strengthen their competences and ensure that their potential is used in advocacy work and awareness raising. One of the outputs of the project will be a product/tool for the target group, which will be created using the HCD method.

Project activities:

1. Increasing the participation of people with lived experience in the RUBIKON Centre

1.1 Revision of internal documents and processes
1.2 Creating an expert group and its involvement in (designing) services, decision making and management, influencing the culture of the organisation, supporting employees in RUBIKON Centrum to involve colleagues with lived experience
1.3 Aiming to blaze a trail and have a transferable experience for other organizations (AOOV)

2. Increasing the participation of people with lived experience in advocacy work

2.1 Advocacy work: involvement in Rubikon advocacy teams, commenting on proposals and policies
2.2 Speaking at events for the professional public
2.3 Participation in working groups
2.4 Conveying the perspective of people with lived experience to stimulate chang

3. Involving people with lived experience in awareness raising

3.1 Media appearances and social media posts
3.2 Speaking at public events (debates, lectures, live books…)

4. Involvement in the design of services and products for CS

4.1 Creating a specific product to improve work with incarcerated people

Together with people with lived experience (using the HCD method), we identify an area that is not considered in terms of meeting the needs of the target group and create a specific product/tool – video, leaflet, poster for people in prison

5. Enhancing the competences of people with lived experience

5.1 Individual guidance and support, feedback
5.2 Supervision, group intervisions
5.3 Education: to strengthen the processing of one’s own past and its use in work, development of competences
5.4 Personal meetings of the group
